A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Thomas Dalsgaard Nielsen practices as a physician at American Family Care in Birmingham, Alabama. He leverages multiple board certifications to provide non-interventional cardiology treatments to his patients. Additionally, Dr. Thomas Dalsgaard Nielsen holds certification for implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and pacemakers.
Dr. Nielsen also serves as the founder and CEO of base2 Medical, LLC, a medical software development firm. In this capacity, he created the LabStar program to benefit medical professionals by simplifying clinical tasks and increasing managerial efficiency in nuclear cardiology laboratories.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Nielsen earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in electrical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology before going on to secure his MD at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. Furthering his training, he completed a residency in internal medicine at the Duke University Medical Center and a cardiology research fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
